Description:
In case you read my review 'Good for hunters and collectors' in this month's 'Australian Shooter', please note that the gremlins raised their ugly heads in the second column, with this sentence:
"Among the illustrations are several old advertisements and these may be where he derived some of the text specifications."
Though I am old and may have nodded in transmitting the copy, my computer's text shows the reference as:
"Among the graphics, he shows many old advertisements and they may be where he derived some of the text specifications."
What's the difference, you ask? Well, not only are the graphics in Nick Stroebel's 'Old Gunsights & Rifle Scopes . . .' many and varied in their nature but his book is literally riddled with referenced advertisements - by no means a fault in the context.
Why do I mention this here and not harass the Editor about it?
Well (as we used to say before 'so' stole humility from speech), at this time of year any printed correction would be two months away, by which time December's issue will be ancient history.
I apologise for any grammatical errors. My bible is the old 'Age' style book, which I not only embraced but would issue potted versions of whenever a new one came out, late last century. But obviously that is old hat because it seems most of my 'thats' should now be whiches ;)
Compliments of the season
