Description:
Otis A. SMITH 41 calibre rim fire, single action, spur trigger, 5 shot pocket revolver. Circa 1875. Serial No 1754 (less than 4000 were made)
)
ANTIQUE PISTOL -NO PTA OR LICENSE REQUIRED IN QLD
Manufactured in Rockfall, Connecticut, USA. Circa 1870-1880.
The revolver is in remarkably very fine pristine condition and could be described as almost new, as depicted by the photographs
.
The action is tight and functions and locks up correctly.
The bore is perfect with no rust or pitting and strong square bold rifling
.
The cylinders are all rust and pit free and clean and sharp.
The nickel plating is 99.9% perfect and unblemished.
Engraved clearly into the top barrel strap are the words "Smith's Patent April 15th 1873 No 41"
The rosewood, bird-head factory grips are in excellent condition and show the natural colour and beauty of the rosewood.
The revolver is activated by manually cocking the hammer which rotates the cylinder to align with the barrel. Pressing the trigger releases the hammer and fires the round.
Five shots can be fired rapidly in this sequence.
The revolver can be loaded and unloaded with single rounds through the open loading gate or have a complete 5 round unload and recharge by the quick and simple removal of the cylinder from the frame. This is done via the spring loaded cylinder pivot rod that releases the cylinder completely from the frame.
The revolver is cased in a beautiful natural timber presentation case with a brief description of the revolver and the history of Otis A.SMITH.
As less than 4000 of these revolvers were manufactured it is an extremely rare pistol on the world scale and it is doubtful if there there are any other similar revolvers of this vintage in this pristine condition.
This is a collectors dream "an antique, rare revolver in pristine condition".
NO PTA OR WEAPONS LICENSE REQUIRED IN QUEENSLAND. (Check your own states for local legislation)
The revolver was manufactured before 1900 (1870-1880) and there is no commercially manufactured ammunition available.)
This revolver will excel in any inspection and any serious purchasers are welcome to inspect before commitment.
NOTE THIS REVOLVER IS 41 RIM FIRE BUT SSAA DOES NOT PROVIDED RECOGNITION OF THAT CALIBRE SO IT IS ADVERTISED AS 22 CB CAP WHICH IS INCORRECT.!!!!
