Description:
This 1943 Lithgow SMLE No 1 MKIII has all matching numbers. Typical of a 'FTR', carried out at Lithgow SAF it had a heavy barrel fitted in 1948, and its bore is shiny with well-defined rifling. It has a "marksman" cheek pad on the "LONG" buttstock for easy sighting through the Lyman peep sight making it a well set up target rifle suitable for military discipline shooting.
