Marlin 336 .30/30 Lever Action - 'JM' Proof stamped

This rifle is 'JM' stamped -
The JM stamp was applied to the barrel after two rounds of SAAMI spec Proof Ammo were fired as a test to make sure the rifle was correctly assembled and would hold together for the owner.
The Proof Ammo was specially loaded to produce 150% of Maximum Average Pressure in normal operation.
After firing, the bolt, locking block, and receiver mortise were inspected.
If the rifle passed the test, it received the JM stamp. That's why it's called a "Proof Mark".
