Butt Stock wood is stamped - MA Lithgow SMLE III * HV 1943.
The "HV" stamp indicates that this rifle was sighted in for high velocity ammunition
Ring is stamped - MA Lithgow SMLE III * 1942
Receiver Serial # D90954
End Cap (below muzzle) - metal is stamped "L" over "90954"
Underside of barrel muzzle/near bayonet attachment lug - metal is stamped "BA"
The "MA VII" code stamped on the top of the barrel (behind the rear sight) - indicates that this rifle was sighted in for the Mk VII .303 round
The left side of the breech ring is marked with the Lithgow proof mark which is a crown over crossed flags and the letters 'L' and 'P'
Underside of fore-end stock - wood is stamped at 3 separate locations, with markings of:
"SLAZ" over "42"
and
"B"
and
"Crown" over "3" over "8"
"SLAZ 42" indicates the stock was made in the Slazenger factory in 1942, and the wood is Australian Coachwood
Bolt is stamped - serial number consistent with circa 1942/1943
The rear sight is graduated from 200 to 2,000 yards in 25 yard increments - with a push button quick release on the left of the slide for rapid adjustment, and a worm wheel on the right for fine adjustment
Last fired about 20 years ago - was very accurate with open sights
Includes a used, padded gun bag
Includes the original 10-round steel box magazine
