This long-range Central aperture sight is primarily intended to be fitted to a S.M.L.E. No.1 Mk. 3 style ex-military rifle in .303 British calibre; to be used for the purpose of long-range target shooting. The graduated markings on one side of the elevation scale plate range from 200 to 1,200 yards. The markings on the other side refer to "minutes-of-angle" elevation settings. Windage "clicks" move in 1/2 minute-of-angle increments.
This particular sight is unusual in having a larger windage block fitted containing the bigger 9mm diameter x 1.0mm thread which permits the direct fitting of Anschutz sights, filters and shade tubes. This feature is not being fully utilized at present as the previous owner has chosen to fit an adapter thread and a 6-hole Parker Hale aperture peep instead .... however the potential is still there if required.
This sight comes complete with a matching Central mounting plate featuring 5-hole optional locations for placing the sight safely enough away from the shooter's eyebrow. All mounting screws and a safety lever pressure spring are included. NB. The spring may need some trimming to fit.
Everything is in exceptional, unmarked/undamaged condition and in full working order. No rust, pitting or butchering.
