MUES Folding Aperture Sight variations

COLLECTORS - I now only have one of two variations of the MUES folding target aperture sight left to offer here for sale. For those unfamiliar, these sights were originally made for fitting onto the early MLE (Boer War era) "Long Tom" British .303 rifles in place of the standard pivoting volley sight.
Can also be fitted to SMLE No.1 Mk.3 rifles using a BSA or Parker style accessory baseplate (not included).

For those who may wish to fit one of these sights to some other sort of rifle, this was often done in olden times too. These sights can be fitted to flat-sided actions such as Martinis and various lever actions. The peep sits approximately 0.80" (ie. 20mm) to the right of the elevation leg's inside bearing surface. These long range target sights can be instantly folded away to the left side of the rifle to enable the issued open sights to be used instead.

Genuine antiques in their own right, these two sights feature a variation in their construction to enable ideal placement of the peep either closer to or further away from the shooter's eye (& eyebrow).

Both elevation & windage knobs feature "click" adjustments. The elevation arm can be locked firmly in any desired position by tightening the finger-wind knob on the side. Elevation markings are denoted in yardages from 200 to 1,100 yards as well as a minute-of-angle vernier scale. Windage is marked by vernier readings in 1/2 m.o.a. increments.

The remaining sight is in full working order, having recently been cleaned, checked and lubricated.

Exterior finish is typical of their old age, storage & long use.
