This Parker Hale PH-17 target aperture sight is a rarely seen variation fitted to a factory-made extension bar. This unit offers a range of options for mounting to a rifle. The sight by itself can be fastened directly to the side of a suitably matching rifle receiver.

Fitted into the extension bar, the unit now suits DIRECT mounting to a flat-sided receiver such as a Martini, for example. (NB. Extra holes will need to be drilled in the bar to achieve this.)

Adding the 5/8" dovetail block onto the front end of the extension bar permits the whole unit to be clamped onto the top of a receiver ring pre-fitted with a 5/8" dovetail block, such as a single-shot Stevens or Winchester falling block perhaps.

This arrangement allows the peep sight itself to be positioned far enough rearwards to provide a proper sight picture for the shooter. The design of this sight is ideally suited to rifles such as the Winchester M1885 single shot falling block as the only other option is a tang sight which always denies the shooter a comfortable, firm & positive grip.

The sight itself features very positive "click" adjustments for both elevation & windage. The sight arm can be quick-detached from its base merely by depressing the button located at the rear, thus allowing the whole sight arm to be slid upwards & free from its base.

Both the elevation & windage arm scale plates can be adjusted for a correction of their zero. This sight is in extremely good, fine & accurate working condition. The windage carrier is fitted with an adjustable 6-hole peep unit to match any light condition likely to be encountered during a competition.

The offset measurement of the aperture from the inner surface of the extension bar is approximately 0.415" (10.5mm).
