Description:
For either the collector, shooter & custom-rifle builder these two very uncommon Australian made "Austral" aperture sights may interest you.
They were originally made for one purpose .... long-range "fullbore" target rifle shooting .... but they vary from each other in many cosmetic details which may be of interest to the collector, which is why I am offering them for separate sale or together.
Both sights are graduated from 200 to 1,200 yards to suit .303 Mk. VII ammunition most likely. The opposing graduations on the elevation scale plate are "minutes of angle". The windage vernier scale reads in 1/2 M.O.A. increments and both winding knobs feature positive 1/2 M.O.A. "clicks" as well. Each scale plate can be adjusted to set a proper "zero" position.
No mounting screws or blocks, sorry! For a shooter already possessing a rifle with a corresponding base, mounting one of these sights shouldn't be much of a problem. Also, a custom-rifle builder wouldn't find it much of a task to fit one of these sights to a big Martini or lever action rifle either.
Both sights are in excellent working order with only minor age discoloration present. No rust, pitting, mechanical wear or butchering on either sight.
