Early German small ring 98Mauser stalking rifle is in 8x57JS calibre. It has been made by an unknown maker, but very likely from a small custom maker. Barrel length is 20 and one quarter inch :
Bore is in good condition for its age: European style express sights, period cheekpiece: Double set triggers:
Barrel band swing swivel: Weight 6lb: Inletted and contoured steel butt plate showing the serial number 734: Bolt turned down, underside of knob is flattened and checkered: Typical engraving style on action associated with these early German makers. Stock has good fiddleback grained European walnut: Proof marks indicate 0.323inch bore size. Over all, good to very good condition for age and no rust.
