Description:
The Model 1903's were made in Germany by Mauser for the Ottoman Empire from 1903 - 1910. Originally chambered in 7.65x53, the actions were patterned after the Gewehr 98, but were a slightly shorter "intermediate" length to suit this cartridge choice. They were later updated to the 1903/38 pattern and converted to 8mm Mauser in a program lasting from 1930- 1938. This example was converted in 1935.
Metal work and woodwork are in generally good condition for its age, bolt smooth and a crisp trigger. Rear action screw has been replaced at some point with one modified from a Swedish Mauser. Rifling is strong, but dark in the groves. Overall fair condition.
