Custom Mauser 96

Description:

Custom Swedish Mauser 96 built on a 1924 produced Carl Gustafs action.

Work done by Ignition Custom Engineering in SA. Action has been blueprinted, it wears a 24 inch semi-heavy (in between a light sporter profile and varmint profile) Allan Swan barrel with a 1 in 8 twist.

All metal work has been cerakoted black and it has a Timney trigger with side safety installed. Comes with the pictured Redfield 4-12x40 scope (duplex reticle). Has had less than 150 rounds fired through it since the rebuild, so the bore and crown are excellent.

Also comes with the following:

- Semi finished walnut stock and recoil pad from Hatchers Rifle-stocks. (Currently, it wears the cheap plastic stock it came with when originally purchased as a cut down military sporter before the rebuild took place. The barrel channel on the plastic stock has been opened up to accommodate the new barrel profile, so the gun can be used in its current stock if desired).
- 2x spare extractors (new old stock).
- The original military trigger.
- Spare set of low 30mm rings.
- Spare magazine follower (so you can choose between having the last round bolt hold open feature or not, currently has the standard bolt hold open follower installed).
- A set of Lee reloading dies
- 187 pieces of S&B brass (once fired)
- 100 rounds of 140 grain S&B factory Ammunition (if picked up locally in the ACT).
- HSS bore guide for cleaning.

The 6.5x55 is a lovely mild mannered cartridge, suitable for a wide variety of medium game and target shooting disciplines. Ballistically equivalent to the .260 Remington or 6.5 creedmoor. Brass is readily available from a range of manufacturers, as is factory ammunition should you not wish to reload for it.
