Berthier 1907-1915/Full wood carbine/ 8x50 Lebel / 3 shot clip./Bore is rough from neglect in service /in 1948 Turkey refurbished & rebarreled & fitted a foresight protector & then proofed them to fire Balle N. /Note "ORMAN" is Turkish for Forestry.These carbines were issued to the Turkish Forestry Service to protect their Circissan Walnut trees from being stolen.This model was considered robust & rugged enough for their forest Rangers.As well as the security of using a calibre that ammunition was unavailable commercialy if the Rifles were stolen.
