Register an account

Registration is free to all users and can be done from any page. Simply click ‘Login’ at the top of the screen and select ‘Register’ from the drop down menu. Registering is quick - the only fields to enter are the name, email address and password. The user will next need to check their inbox for the ‘Account Verification’ email, where they will need to click on the activation link.

Update your profile

When users are logged in there are several options from the drop down menu under their user profile (their name) at the top of the screen. Users can update their profile, change their password and check their login details from here at any time.

To complete their profile, users must click ‘Update Profile’ from the drop down menu and select if they are a ‘Private User’ or ‘Dealer/Commercial’ (the default is set to ‘Private’). Private users must enter their firearms licence number, state and expiry date, and if applicable their SSAA membership number, state and expiry date. Dealers and commercial users are can choose to enter their website URL, licence number, state and expiry date.

Selling an item or product

After users have registered for a free account and activated their account, they may list an item for sale. Simply click ‘Place An Ad’ at the top of the screen to start creating the listing. If users have not updated their profile at this point, they will be directed to this page first to enter their firearms licence and SSAA membership details or dealer licence details.

Users can select the category to list the item under from the drop down menu, as well as the make, model, condition, asking price, and description about the item. For firearms and some firearm parts a transferring dealer and firearm attributes are also required. Users can add up to 6 images (max file size 5MB) to help promote their advert. Click ‘Create Listing’ and select the preferred display format and default photo for the advert.

The ‘Listing Confirmation’ will display the listing fee, which is calculated on the details users provide when creating their profile. Enter a ‘Promo Code’ (if applicable) and select ‘Apply’. Payment can be made via credit card or PayPal. Users will receive a confirmation ‘Transaction Receipt’ email for each advert placed. The item will then be available to view on SSAA Gun Sales.

Search listed items

SSAA Gun Sales has a comprehensive basic and advanced search function, so users can narrow down the listings to find exactly what they are looking for. Users can search by category, make, model, calibre, action, condition, state, by dealer or private user listing, or by specific keywords. Users can also sort the search results by newest to oldest, low to high price, or vice versa. Users do not need to be logged in to view and search listed items.

Enquire about an item or product

Users must register and be logged in to enquire about a listing. Once registered for an account users are welcome to contact sellers using the ‘Enquire About This Listing’ text box on any listing page. Users can also add items to their private ‘Wish List’, email the listing to a friend, print, or share via social media.

Listing fees

Listing fees for selling are just $10 for SSAA members and $20 for non-SSAA members.
*Listings stay on SSAA Gun Sales for 12 months from the date added, unless you sell your item (and mark the listing as ‘sold’) or remove it beforehand.
Users are only required to pay fees when listing an item. These are shown when users are logged in and again before placing an advert. Fees associated with listing items are heavily discounted for SSAA members. To receive this discount, users must enter their SSAA membership number, state and expiry date in their user profile.
