Description:
The smaller Bowie is typical of a “Cowboy” side arm set for a left-hand carry.
The blade is stamped LF&C. I believe this to be an early mark for a firm called Landers, Frank & Clark who made knives in Connecticut from around 1865.
Note the 6” blade is made from particularly heavy stock. Typical of a high-quality tang style favored on the frontiers. The Stag grips are also early and selected for the natural curves to have a great hand fit. The guard is German silver (coin silver). The sheaf, although probably not original is a sadlier made period replacement and has been with the knife a long time. The snap may have been replaced in times past. At an overall length of 11 inches this represents a nice example of a companion for a genuine cowboy belt rig.
