Description:
Commercial big ring Mauser 98. Double set triggers. Originally 8mm Mauser. Rebored and rechambered for .35 Whelen improved (45 degree shoulder) by legendary American gunsmith P. O. Akley in 1961. Barrelled action polished and reblued with Ackley's blue-black process. Original European claw-type scope mounts removed, dovetails filled, and drilled and tapped for standard scope mounts and bolt handle turned down in 1981. Original European walnut stock has a Schnable fore-end with slight cheekpiece and recoil pad. Missing a small adjusting screw for the set triggers. The original iron sights are pretty close, but current Leopold M8 3x scope with post and duplex reticle is right on and has enough eye relief to accommodate the considerable recoil. Reloading dies made by Ackley with the same chambering tool are included
