Description:
"Mues" manufacture folding aperture sight & base plate. Base plate carries the markings "M.A." & the military broad arrow markings from Lithgow Small Arms arsenal. Some of these units were fitted to SMLE No.1 Mk.3 rifles during WW1 for the purposes of sniping at enemy positions over extended ranges.
The base plate will also fit the earlier "Long Tom" .303 Boer War rifles and SMLE No.1 Mk.1's.
"MUES" sights were manufactured here in Australia I believe.
This Mues sight is fully functional & in excellent operating condition. The windage arm can be folded up vertically, then the whole sight pivoted down to lay beside the receiver, thus allowing the standard open sights to still be used when required. The safety spring is used to index the sight both vertically and horizontally. The pivot screw anchors the sight firmly when tightened, & allows it to pivot when loosened.
For best accuracy the external lock nut should always be applied once the elevation setting is made.
No alterations, rust, pitting or butchering; only some age staining which is normal for something of this antiquity.
Asking price INCLUDES postage to all Eastern & Central Australian states.
No trade to W.A..
