Rare Sako Ultra Wildcat 17 rem. These rifles were produced in the early 1970 s.primarily for the North American market .They were produced in a collaborative joint venture with a simple philosophy. ‘ put the worlds best actions with the worlds best barrels and present this unbeatable combination in a top US manufactured stock ‘ ….Thus Sako made and supplied special edition actions , Douglas made the barrels ( then considered by many as the worlds best barrel maker ) and Fajen produced the deluxe weatherby styled stocks . Harrington and Richards who conceived the plan ,supplied the stock hardware and did the marketing and distribution. Meticulously produced and assembled these rifles were considered superior to the best American made rifles and in fact they may even surpass the Sako deluxes of the era. . The Americanized styling and incorporation of USA componentry further enhanced appeal to the target market .. These rifles were made in very limited numbers before the fatal flaw in the plan ie very high production costs obsoleted the joint venture. ………….This rifle is beautiful. …To which striking must be added !! …no other words do it justice !!..It all original untouched and appears unfired. From a deceased estate it’s indeed a rare find .. Minor storage marks and a little yellowing in the high gloss finish and some feint fading of the high gloss blued metal are to be expected .but in fact . its really looks as good as when it left the factory 50 years ago …..Must be the one of the most collectible of the sakos I have ever encountered ,and definately one that will appreciate in value ..
