A forced sale because of potential NSW legislation. Not keen to see it destroyed by handing it in - that would be a tragedy as this is a great piece of history in original, used condition. I have no idea but I would think it has probably seen action. As far as I know, the rifle has not been modified and I doubt it has been changed in any way. It would suite a collector.
Matching serial numbers on receiver and bolt D17554, barrel 85244.
I have not used it much but it shoots well and the barrel and rifling look perfect to me. The bloke I bought it from years ago said it was a 1943 model but I can’t see any markings to prove that.
There are some markings on the butt (I cannot make out the details), the trigger guard (BA), behind the trigger guard (something over B) and other markings. I have never done any research but there are many references if someone wants to go down that path.
I have unused ammo (and brass) you can have if you can pick it up.
For sale, less than I paid for it, at $950 but I guess negotiable. Buyer to cover postage and costs.
