Savage No.4 Mk I* (.303 British) – 1943 – Mint Condition – Matching NZ Issue – Two Unused Bayonets
A rare opportunity to acquire a near new, original 1943 Savage No.4 Mk I* in .303 British.
This rifle was manufactured by Savage Arms, Chicopee Falls, USA, and supplied to New Zealand under Lend Lease. It remains in exceptional, collector grade condition with matching serial numbers, correct Savage markings throughout, and two mint bayonets.
Condition & History
• Purchased new in 1974 from Morpeth Gun Club (N.S.W.) still sealed in grease and waxed paper.
• Only 50 rounds of soft point sporting ammunition fired since purchase.
• No modifications of any kind — completely original military configuration.
• Bore, metalwork, and timber are all in excellent, near new condition.
Markings & Serial Numbers
• Original Savage serial: 54C7107 (1943 production).
• New Zealand service number: NZ 48331.
• Both numbers are stamped on the receiver, bolt — all matching.
• Extensive Savage “S” markings on metal parts, stock, and bayonet.
• Correct “U.S. PROPERTY” marking intact and crisp.
Features
• Correct wartime 300/600 m flip peep sight.
• Original Savage furniture with inspection marks.
• Includes pull through (no oiler supplied when purchased).
• Smooth action, excellent bore, and tight lock up.
Included Accessories
Two unused, as new bayonets:
1. Savage marked No.4 Mk II “pig sticker” spike bayonet
2. Traditional blade bayonet (also unused)
Both are in mint condition and correct for the rifle.
Why This Rifle Is Special
• Genuine U.S.-made Savage No.4 rifles are already sought after.

• The rifle’s documented history, untouched condition, and unused bayonets make it a standout for collectors.
