Description:
Was brought back to Bathurst, NSW from the Boer war, by my Great Grandfather. Unlikely he bought it, probably salvaged from some poor farmers home. Carries the inscription "Specially made for G.A.Fichard and Son. Bloemfontein. Believed to be English Manufacture. In original condition ie POOR! pre 1900. Has rust in the rifle barrel and pitting in the 12g barrel. Rust externally. Stock pretty beaten up. Nice engraving including the leather butt pad. Flip up sights with silver inlay. Hammers and firing pins work. Double trigger. Pistol grip. Action isnt too bad but i think its been tightened at some stage. Its pretty much all there but needs a full on resto. Not sure about the rifle cal, but its NOT .577-450. Believed to be .45cal. Has a very basic timber case believed to be origional, however, not in good condition.
It needs a new home as I have no one to pass it onto. Can be viewed at Safari in Sydney. Be mindfull that it is in poor condition and NOT safe to fire in its current state. Is currently registered in NSW, I have the registration certificate.
