Winchester Model 69 Target Model

Vintage Winchester Model 69 Target Model.
The Model 69 was made between only between March 1935 and November 1937 when it was modified to become the Model 69A. The non rebounding firing pin dates it to before August 1935 making it very early production.
The Model 69 is therefore one of the scarcer early Winchester models and this one is an ever rarer Target Model (catalog # G6901R) with no barrel mouted rear sight and a receiver mounted 96B aperture sight often called the Humeston. This extremeny rare sight is probably worth more than the rifle.

The rifle is in good shootable condition, feeds perfectly and is extremely accurate.
Negatives (from a collectors perspective) are 3 drilled scope mount holes on the left side of the receiver with a tiny amount of wood recieved from the stock, a sling swivel hole in the butt that has been filled and a 3/8" professionally cut dovetail in the bottom of the barrel that I assume at some stage housed a sling swivel. None of these affect shootability.

Nicely figured walnut stock in god condition with Winchester Buttplate in good condition.

Comes with an aftermarket Wisners 5 shot magazine which is equivalent quality (if not better) than the originals. Another benefit to this model is that good quality replacement magazines are available.
