Early Series Model A Mauser Patrone MS 420 N

Very collectable, rare, early series Mauser Model MS420N from Oberndorf in Germany, in original condition. Manufactured between the wars in the early 1930s, possibly in 1933, it bears the Mauser logo on the black butt plate and the right side of the dark Walnut stock and on the bridge. The original blueing on the barrel carries a serial number in the early 101XXX, matching those on the bolt, rear sight, and magazine plate. The Walnut stock has a chequered pistol grip and a grooved forend, predating later model MS420s. Just behind the receiver, the letter "N" has been stamped in the wood, possibly designating it as an recipient of the upgraded "new" action type. The action features a gas port on the left and uses the sliding safety of the earlier MS series, with a smooth trigger guard, and a sloped 5 round magazine. The rear sight is a tangent leaf slider is paired with an interchangeable square post front sight, mounted on a ramp, equipped with hooded sight protector and bears a few marks around the muzzle. The barrel bears the "Ch.1.3." stamp of the early MS420s, with sling swivels visible in both the fore end and the rear of the stock.
